The upper walkway is reached by the lift or the Carmo terrace; both involve tickets or queues, and neither is required for the unlock at street level.

Do I need to ride the lift to unlock the Landmark?
No. The unlock happens on the street around the tower. Riding the lift and visiting the upper walkway are separate operator tickets with their own queues.
Why does the app sometimes struggle near the lift?
The narrow Baixa streets can reflect and block the signal. Step toward Praça do Comércio or Rossio, let the phone settle, and retry inside the supported area.
Is the lift always running?
It closes periodically for maintenance and has seasonal hours. Check the operator’s current status; the Landmark and its Experiences do not depend on the lift operating.
