You can decide what a visit means before deciding how to caption it. That may sound obvious, but a photograph can open a whole sequence of work while you are still standing at the place: select, edit, compare, write, post, check.
We want Unlocked to leave more of that sequence until later. A successful landmark unlock keeps the place attached to your account. You can return to creating a Memory after the visit, when sharing it is a choice you have time to make.
The landmark does not need a live report from you in order to become part of your trip.
Notice when making a picture creates more tasks
An illustrative sequence: you take a portrait you like, open it to make a small adjustment, compare it with another version, and start thinking about what to write. A few minutes later, you are answering a message about the post while the people you came with are looking at the view.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to share a happy moment. The question is whether all the work attached to sharing belongs inside that moment.
You can keep the photograph and postpone the decision. A draft caption does not need to be completed before you leave the square. A response can wait until you have finished the visit. You are allowed to have an experience whose public version does not exist yet.
Decide what you want from the place before the audience
Try naming your own reason for the stop. You want to see the building close up. You want to sit with your companion. You want to understand why this view attracted you in the first place.
That reason can guide how long you stay and what you pay attention to. A possible post becomes one part of the visit, rather than a brief that the visit must fulfill.
This is an editorial preference, not a claim that sharing makes travel worse. Posting can connect you with people who care about the journey. We simply prefer a choice made after you have had some time with the place yourself.
Use the unlock as a place to stop using the app
At a supported Unlocked Landmark, choose Unlock while you are nearby and wait for confirmation. The successful unlock remains with your account after you leave.
That creates a natural stopping point. You have completed the part that requires your presence. You do not need to browse every Experience or generate a Memory at the landmark. You can put the phone away while the rest of the visit is still happening.
When you are back at the hotel, choose an available Experience, provide a photo of yourself, and review its credit cost. If you want the image, create a Memory. You can make more later using credits; the initial unlock does not mean you need to produce a collection immediately.
The hotel-room workflow keeps those choices together in a part of the day you can choose for them.
Choose an audience after choosing a Memory
A generated Memory can stay in your own collection. You might show it to a friend, send it to family, or share it more broadly. None of those choices has to be made during the visit.
When you do share, be clear that it is AI-created. The presence-based unlock connects the creative option to a real place you visited; it does not turn the generated image into a camera photograph of that moment.
Keeping that distinction clear also makes room for ordinary photographs and unfinished impressions. Your trip can include a polished creative portrait, a blurry picture you love, and things you never photographed at all.
There is no need to give every stop the same public treatment. Some places will become stories you tell. Some will remain a view you enjoyed for an afternoon. Unlocked can keep the option of a later Memory open while you decide what, if anything, you want to share.
