If you only have a short time at a landmark, the portrait can take a surprisingly large share of the visit. Finding an angle, taking the picture, checking it, and trying again are all reasonable steps. Together, they can become most of what you did there.
We want Unlocked to give that time back to the visit. At a supported landmark, complete the unlock while present. Then leave creating a personal Memory for later, when the time you spend on the image is no longer coming out of the stop itself.
You do not need a whole afternoon available to deserve a moment with a beautiful place.
Name the thing you came to do
A short stop becomes easier to shape when you know what matters most to you. Perhaps you want to see the building at full scale, walk through an accessible part of the site, or share the view with someone.
For an illustrative example, imagine you have twenty minutes before you need to continue your day. You could use much of that time finding and checking a portrait. You could also take a quick ordinary photograph, complete your landmark unlock, and spend the rest looking around.
Twenty minutes is only an example, not an estimate of how long a landmark visit or an unlock should take. The useful decision is deciding what deserves the time you actually have.
Give the phone one clear task
Before the stop, check whether the landmark is supported in Unlocked. At the place, choose Unlock while you are nearby and wait for confirmation that it succeeded.
That is the part you need to finish before leaving. The app does not infer a successful unlock from a route you walked earlier, and a picture taken there cannot complete it later from your hotel room.
Once unlocked, the landmark remains attached to your account. You can close the app without choosing an Experience, providing a photo for generation, or making a Memory on the spot.
You may still need the phone for a ticket, directions, or a message. Putting it down is a practical preference about your attention, not a rule that makes the rest of the visit a failure if you use it again.
Avoid filling every spare moment with another task
Once the unlock is done, resist the temptation to treat the remaining time as a checklist to complete in the app. You can browse Experiences later. You can decide whether you want another Memory later. You can also decide that you want none today.
Look at what made you stop. Let your eyes move beyond the composition you would have chosen for a portrait. If you are with someone, ask what caught their attention. If you are alone, stay with the view that interests you without needing to explain it.
There is no requirement to extract a profound lesson from a short visit. Enjoying the shape of a building or the space of a square is enough of a reason to have been there.
Create when you have time to choose
At the hotel, or after the trip, open an available Experience at the landmark you unlocked. The Experience supplies a curated photographic direction. Provide a photo of yourself, check the required credits, and create a Memory if you want one.
It is an AI-created interpretation of the visit, so keep ordinary photos for details you want recorded exactly. Additional Memories use credits and the landmark’s available Experiences. Your successful unlock lets you make those choices after departure without returning just to verify your presence again.
The hotel-room guide walks through that later part of the process.
The benefit is simple: a short visit can contain more looking and less image preparation. You have already made the effort to reach the place. Give the time you have to something you can only do while standing there, and let the portrait become a project for when you sit down later.
