Rome on Foot: Ancient Landmarks and Fountains
Explore Rome on foot through exterior views of the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona, in that order. Ancient arcades and a classical portico share the route with sculpted fountains and a branching staircase. Every stop stands on open public ground, and interior visits or controlled close-access areas remain separate ticketed activities.

Colosseum
Start with the surviving oval amphitheatre and its pale travertine arcades. Photograph from the pedestrian area without stepping into traffic, and leave space around the outer arcades. This stop uses the exterior; arena, underground and archaeological-park admission are separate. Confirm your unlock here before moving on.

Trevi Fountain
Frame Palazzo Poli and Oceanus above the sculpted basin from the upper public square. Leave the basin edge to its managed visitor route: close access has separate entry controls. Stay out of the water and off the stonework, and give the crowd its own rhythm rather than waiting it out.

Spanish Steps
Use the lower square at Piazza di Spagna to frame the branching staircase rising toward Trinità dei Monti. Avoid stopping on narrow landings, keep the steps moving and follow posted conduct rules. Collecting a badge does not grant church or terrace access.

Pantheon
Work from Piazza della Rotonda to place the Pantheon’s triangular pediment and granite columns behind your portrait. This is an exterior stop at the ancient domed church; admission, services and interior photography rules are separate. Verify your visit while you circle the square.

Piazza Navona
Finish among Piazza Navona’s baroque fountains and the curved facade of Sant’Agnese in Agone. Move through the open pedestrian square until the central obelisk clears the church dome in your frame. Leave fountain rims, cafe entrances and worship access clear.

These stops use exterior viewpoints. Colosseum arena, underground and archaeological-park admission are separate, as are Pantheon church admission and Trevi Fountain close-access controls. Collecting a badge does not grant church or terrace access at the Spanish Steps.
How do I collect the badges along the route?
Open each Landmark in Unlocked and choose Unlock while you are inside its supported area. A distant view does not establish arrival, even when the building or fountain is clearly visible.
Where should I stand for photographs?
Use the Colosseum pedestrian area, Trevi’s upper public square and the lower square at the Spanish Steps. At the Pantheon and Piazza Navona, work from the squares while keeping fountain rims, entrances and worship access clear.
