You should be able to stand in front of a beautiful place without immediately working out how to photograph yourself in front of it.
That is the idea we want Unlocked to serve. Arrive at a supported landmark. Unlock it while you are there. Put your phone away. The pictures can wait until you are back at the hotel, sitting down, with nobody waiting for you to finish.
There is a practical reason for that order. Your time at the place is tied to the visit. Choosing a photographic style and creating an image can happen later. We want the app to separate those two demands on your attention.
Give the visit the time it actually needs
Getting a portrait can involve several jobs: finding a position, checking the background, asking someone to hold the phone, reviewing the result, and trying again. If you enjoy that process, it belongs in your trip. If you only want a picture to keep, it can become a task you feel obliged to complete before leaving.
Consider an illustrative visit to Park Güell. You could spend your time studying the shape of the terrace and the way its surfaces catch the light. You could also spend that time directing a companion a step to the left, then checking whether the shot worked.
Neither choice makes you a better traveler. We simply think you should have a useful option when you would rather keep looking at the park.
Finish the part that depends on being there
In Unlocked, a Landmark is a supported place in the app. You visit it and choose Unlock while nearby. The app checks your presence, and a successful unlock stays attached to your account after you leave.
Wait for that success before putting the phone away. Being near the landmark without completing the unlock does not save it automatically. An old holiday photo is not a substitute for that step.
Once the place is unlocked, you can leave the creative decisions for later. You do not have to choose a look, provide your portrait reference, or start generating an image during the visit.
This is the specific job we want the phone to do at the landmark: record your arrival, then let you return to the place in front of you.
Let the hotel room become the place for choosing
Later, open an available Experience at your unlocked landmark. Experiences are curated photographic directions for that place. Provide a photo of yourself, review the credit cost, and choose to create a Memory.
A Memory is an AI-created image inspired by your visit. It can give you a personal portrait connected to the landmark without requiring you to have staged that portrait there. It does not reproduce the exact moment your eyes saw.
You can make additional Memories from available Experiences using credits. Unlocking the place does not mean unlimited free generation, and there is no need to make every image in one sitting. A later evening or a day back home works too.
The useful freedom is deciding when you want to spend time making pictures.
Keep the camera when it earns its place
Take an ordinary photograph when something makes you want to. A companion laughing, an unexpected detail, or the actual weather that afternoon may deserve a camera image of its own.
Unlocked does not need to account for every kind of travel photograph. Our proposition is narrower: the desire for a personal landmark portrait should not require you to spend your visit producing one.
Keep your original photos. Keep the generated Memories you like. Let each do its own job in remembering the trip.
